After starring in the film adaptation of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” actress Bella Thorne (“Shake it Up”) has some advice for when things just aren’t going your way.
“If you’re having a bad day, you have to look at everything else around the world,” Thorne explains, because sometimes, their are bigger and worse problems than you own.
Next year’s “Alexander,” directed by Miguel Arteta (“Youth in Revolt,” “Cedar Rapids”) adapts Judith Viorst’s 1972 children’s book about the titular boy’s not-so-great day that gets off to a bad start with gum in his hair and only gets worse from there. Thorne plays Celia, the prettiest girl in school, and is probably on the list of Alexander’s problems.
Here is a video where Bella Shows How VH1 + jcpenney Are Helping The Country’s Classrooms. Be sure to watch this inspiring video below!
Do Something advocate Bella Thorne thinks that learning should be fun for kids, and that many people don’t realize what great lengths teachers go to in order to make that happen.
The teen actress visited Ms. Rossi, a third-grade teacher in Los Angeles, to find out how Adopt A Classroom.org really helps make a difference.
Ms. Rossi tries to make learning fun in her classroom. She believes Adopt A Classroom is very important for students and teachers because it helps provide all the resources and materials to help keep kids engaged and before they know, they’re learning and having fun at the same time.
This August, do something! Head to any jcpenny store to support Adopt A Classroom, plus you can personalize all your back to school gear.
And make sure to check out this year’s Do Something! Awards.

I just found this video, posted by Disney Channel Deutschland in april, it’s a funny outtake video of Bella and Zendaya when they were filming a Q&A video with Disney Channel in Berlin, Germany, I think last year when they had their Europe trip, be sure to watch it!
Bella Thorne has been spending time with the children at Sparrow Village, an organization that cares for children with HIV/AIDS. Sparrow Village provides a home for these children, and even adults, who have nowhere else to live or no one else to look after them.
Bella had an amazing time meeting and playing with the kids there, which you can see in the sweet video she uploaded! She has also taken to twitter to encourage her fans to learn more about Sparrow Village and how they can get involved! (You can get involved too, by finding out more about Sparrow Village and the incredible things they do for children in need, here!)
But Bella has made it clear that the children there aren’t the only ones who benefit from her volunteering. As she tweeted earlier today, “these children are my life. I can’t even begin 2 describe the pure joy that comes from their hearts.”
It sounds like Bella has had an unforgettable experience volunteering with the children at Sparrow Village! It is so good to give back, and especially to lend your support and show you care to someone in need!
Bella is a great role model, so why not follow in her footsteps, and take part in some volunteer work during your summer break?!
